THANK YOU! :o) Yes, that fixed it! I do not have any more detail lines that need to print after that (thankfully) so I can do it that way. For those days when it is late and I am REALLY dense, could you please post in large bold characters so I get it the first time everytime? He he. Or else, just reach through the wire and knock me over the head the next time! Sheesh! You'd think it was Friday! :0)
Thanks Cindy!

>>Yes, the bottom horizontal line of the box is in the group by footer right now, and the body of the box still expands .....

>>>>Hi Cindy, that is exactly what I've done. The problem is that since the box goes 'through' the detail section (overlaps it extending from the header to the footer) the box extends as each detail line is printed. Of course my vertical lines extend too which is perfect, except that that I need the box to be fixed size regardless of the number detail lines. Right now the box starts in the group by header and does extend all the way to just a few pixels in the group by footer, but the box still expands with each detail line. I have tried just about everything I can think of--I never needed a FORCED FIXED SIZE BOX before in any report.

That forces the box to the same size regardless. While this resolves my issue, I would like to solve it without added blank records to the temp cursor to accomplish this. It has to be an exact size because it is a legal document that must fit the requirements.

Then you've got vertical lines which make a box on the page. What you need for them is to stretch from the page header (just a pixle or two in the page header is all that's necessary) to the page footer (again just a pixel or two is required though you may have more) where they will meet a horizontal line that forms the bottom of the box.

>>>>>>The box extends from above the group by detail band to below it. I need it be a specific size regardless of the number of detail lines so it cannot grow/shrink. It is actually a box that contains columns with column headers and vertical gridlines. It must be the same size box no matter the number of detail lines inside of it. The detail lines fill in the rows after the column headers. The problem is that the number of detail lines will make the box grow/shrink to fit. I need the box to stay put regardless of the number of child records in the group by setting. I temporarily resolved it by added blank records to the child group by table force the reccount() to 10 (the max number of detail lines and the size I need the box to be). However, I was hoping there was a better way to do it.

However, I have a background box that I want to stay FIXED and not adjust as each child record prints. I have tried stretching the box from the group header to the group footer to no avail. No matter what I do, the box grows/shrinks with the group detail. While this is usually the behavior you might want, I need a fixed box size in the background. Any way to accomplish this?
