I have communicated with Jerry quite a few times. He is a wonderful resource.
Personally I have two linux machines at home, and three at my office, Ihave the baiscs down, about sendmail and apache, but bind, and dnw, and nfs .. some some just leave me in the dust.

Lost of learning ahead for this guy.

but like VFP where everything is just a property of method, in Linux, everthing (configurations seem to be text files).... just knowing which ones. well thats the tricks..

Sometimes I get the impression that the Linux "keepers of the sacred flame" aren't really too anxious to have a bunch of "Which is the Any Key?" Windows users trying out Gnome and KDE. There've been some good editorials published lately that address this issue. One even went so far as to place the source of the "Linux will never replace Windows" mantra in the Linux camp. I dunno, but before I found this UT/Linux Forum I tried a few newsgroups. Yipes, what a great way to experience having your own Question shoved back down your throat by the resident "Experts". Even if you apologize in advance you're likely to get flamed. On a positive note, posting on newsgroups helps you brush up on groveling.

>So, I've come to the conclusion, right or wrong, that instead of looking for one person to know everything about Linux, I'll just settle for learning everything I can on whatever topic I'm wrestling with at the time. After two or three days matching wits with Sendmail or Samba or Apache, I have a pretty good understanding of what makes them tick. Just be sure to write up lots of notes so you can find the info quicker next time. It's only time and experience is the best teacher.

In the beginning, there was a command prompt, and all was well.
