if you're just interested in FTP and HTTP functions in VFP, I would check out http://www.news2news.com/vfp/?group=92&=0 first. For SMTP and VFP web apps, I would see if the built-in CDONTS does the trick before investing in a 3rd party. Since these tools are 'closer to the metal' so to speak, I would be surprised if they weren't faster than 3rd party OCXs...
There are some TCP/IP 3rd party tools I wish to buy and use with VFP7. They are available as ActiveX controls and as DLLs. Since I have never used external tools with VFP I'm at a loss. Are ActiveX controls faster or slower than DLLs? Are ActiveX controls harder to use and code versus DLLs. Any advice would be appreciated.
