The application would not reside on the internet. The application would reside on the user's computer. After making a connection to a RAS and performing a login, with proper permission you could browse their directory with explorer. Also, you could fire up your application on your computer and connect to a DBC set up table in work areas on your computer, etc. It would work exactly like RAS over phone lines, but with benefit of using the internet infrastructure and speed of wide bandwidth.
