Greetings -
Let me start of by saying I am not a network admin (just a plain-old application developer), so I apologize in advance if I do not describe the situation accurately.
I have a client who is moving from an Apple Macintosh network to a W2K Server-based Intel network. No problem... I suggested they add Services for Macintosh to their W2K server, which they did. I have a small Windows NT 4.0/4.5 BackOffice Server network where I've done the same. The idea is then Mac workstations can be connected.
Here's the problem. At the client we CAN connect the Mac to the W2K Server... However the UAM Share on the server comes up LOCKED (i.e., Read-only), even though:
1.) I've set the share to allow Everyone to have full Read/Write/Delete rights, and
2.) I installed the UAM module that Windows NT/2K likes to have to authenticate the user logging on from the Mac.
Still, we can see the contents of the Microsoft UAM Volume that's on the W2K server from the connected Mac, but we cannot UNLOCK it (and therefore we cannot write files to it). Does anyone out there remember how to get around this? I seem to remember this same problem the last time I did this... but that was four years ago!
Thanks!
