Setting the timeouts doesn't work. NV is too far away even when the timeout is set to 10 minutes, because we are using the AS400 at it's slowest access level, batch status. We have tried all of the above. Which brings this question back to where it started...
How can an application be set up on a server here so that it executes here but a remote user can execute it and get a result set? Is the only way to do this through HTML?
HTML is one way to do it if it'll work locally. You can also create COM Objects and have the VFP Application use the COM Objects remotely. This way you can have the user execute the the application local on their machine but all the process is happening remotely at the COM Server which is on the LAN to the AS/400. At this point it does looks like you're stuck yanking the logic out of the Fat Client in order to make it work with either the HTML/ASP Page or a VFP Client.
Let me know if I can help you with the COM Objects
