>I am having difficulty using a .DBF file created in Alpha 4 version 6 - I need to create reports on the table that Alpha 4 creates, but am not sure of how to deal with this table in FoxPro. I want to make a copy of the .DBF file each time my report program runs in order to avoid any changes being made to the original .DBF. Whenever I try to replace the file in Foxpro, I get a message stating "the fields in the .dbf did not match the entries in the database".

Maybe I misuderstood you, but I suspect that you firstly created VFP table as part of DBC, and then try to override this table with another one from Alpha. If this is the case, it's not right approach. I believe it's absolutely safe to open the table, and run any reports, but it's reasonable to make backup and test it.
