There are two options.
1) Put a field with the expression I mentioned into a record band, double-click on the field, and change the "calculate" options. This is simpler in this case.
2) Do the calculation on the report variable itself, in "variables". This would require a separate variable in this case, but report variables can sometimes be very useful, namely, if the result has to be used in subsequent calculations.
