Hi,

I was evaluating Visual UML 2.8 and yesterday downloaded version 2.9. When one registers with Visual UML, they send you a mail with a generic download link containing the version number. Curiously to find out if there's a preview version of 3.0, I tried the same link but replaced the version number. As a page didn't exist, I continued with testing 2.9.

This morning I check my firewall logs, and someone from Visual Objects tried to hack into my computer (vom1.visualobject.com). When this failed, they used my IP or a cookie to link to my customer data in their database and sent me an email giving me the links I entered. Obviously, they monitor what each visitor is doing on their website. Finally, they blocked my IP on their computer. At least that's what I was able to find out. Maybe they found a way to bypass my firewall and do something else on my machine.

I thinkt this is an incredible behavior for a company I was about to give over $800. It doesn't really make me trust that company. Obviously I will not buy Visual UML and don't recommend it to anyone. Besides that, is it legal in the US to link profile information with customer data without an agreement?
