I have a "behind-the-scenes" class (meaning I didn't document its existence in the Developer's Guide!) in Mere Mortals that may be what you're looking for...it's call CVCXObj and is located in CBuilder.vcx...it probably does most of what you're looking for...it's actually used by the Business Object Builder. If you need some extra functionality that it doesn't offer, you can subclass it and extend it!
