While I realize this happened under VFP 3.0, FPW 2.6's help file shows a number of possible causes under Errors/Troubleshooting. Check the "Internal Consistency or Transgressed File handle" item. There are a list of possible causes there, one or more may apply to your situation. VFP 5.0's help file only says to call Microsoft support.
