I think Microsoft promises a commitment to VFP there. However, the last update posted on the site WAS: Last Updated: 6/26/01

>I feel your pain. I get the question a lot, and there has not been anything definitive aout the VFP future from MS. I thought Ken Levy would have been a lot more visible and affirmative by now, but it has been eerily quiet on the old VFP front. Even the MS Foxpro homepage is stagnant (last update was middle of January, there are NO links to 7.0 reviews). Add to that the fact that there have been a number of articles in Foxpro publications lately about "how to make Foxpro apps look and act like .NET apps". I say: Why bother? Why not do .NET from the inside out with C# or VB to begin with? I think that I can see the writing on the wall, although I don't want to see it...

>Another example: CoDe magazine which is published by old Foxpro veterans and is evidently supported by MS has articles pretty exclusively about .NET, C#, VB. VFP is pretty much absent except in the advertisements for VFP tools and products (published by the same veterans).

>I'm no Chicken Little, I've stuck with FPW/VFP for a long long time and I think it is a great development environment. But I DO think that after version 8 VFP is going to fizzle. I think so, at least until I hear something strongly contrary from MS. I for one have started moving towards .NET, which is probably exactly what MS wants us to do. And that's not necessarily bad, because .NET is (also) a great development platform, especially after the 3rd party .NET tools market kicks into high gear. It looks like this will definitely be the future industry standard. And you don't need a chrystal ball to see that, Merlin!
