>This subject has probably beaten to death. I'm sorry, but here goes again. >My question is simple enough, the VFP encryption method is extremely weak and >programs such as ReFox put my source code out there for the world to view, so >what is the best solution?
Who care about our code? May be only some of our customers like to get it, but I am sure that they don't know what to do with it. It is easy to develop my own code that to drill some other solution.
I'm fully aware there is not 100% perfect solution, you can't stop a hacker when they have the program on their computer. I'm not looking to stop them. I'm looking to stop the average script kiddie at best.
If you are on market of packages and sell a tausend of copies there will be interest to you solution. If some hacker like your/my code any protection will be not a problem for him.
One of our potential customers ask me - If I hire a hacker and he decompile your code? What you will do? - Nothing. In reality I will force him after that to pay higher price than normal.
Everyone has unique stile and other programer very dificulty can come in it and make proper changes.
I have another example - I have a clients, who like to receive the code. They pay more for the code. Now I continue to make changes in their application and they pay.
