Good question... I wonder the same thing too.

Maybe these "COM Add-ins" that are (not) provided will allow us to found a workaround (Tools|Macros|COM Add-Ins).
But nowhere in Visio's Help it is mentioned what interface is supposed to have a COM written for Visio. So I hope that someone from Microsoft will see this thread and provide us some more info.
