date (presumeably mapped to datettime on the backend) and datetime have no corresponding empty value on backends, as you know. As you're also aware, I'm sure, what is an empty date in VFP is 1/1/1900 12:00 AM in MSSQL. It's definitely a messy area between VFP and C/S.
