Paul, Hilmar;

Thanks for the response. I spent yesterday building new tables (only about 6) and views for VFP/SQL*Server with primary keys set to integer. Today I went back and re-did everything back to cid c(6). I just decided that with my application framework changing to integers now would have a maintenance effect that would most likely introduce errors and instability to all my apps (I have a total of 5 apps plus the new one built on the same framework).

I see benefits to integer PK's -- however, it just doesn't seem worth the potential risk to make this change right now. One plus for character id's is that it makes it easier to deal with replication issues without having to resort to compound primary keys.
