can be used as a mail server? or could you inform me what's the best product should I use for mail server purposed? thanks again
You could use sendmail, which comes with most Linux distros and is free, but somewhat difficult to setup. Consult the Linux Documentation Project Howto on sendmail for instructions.
Here is a site which lists free, GPL and commercial mail server applications:

Ximian Evolution is MORE than just an email package. It similar to Lotus Notes and is compatibile with Windows 200 Exchange. The professional version, for $50 US per desktop, comes with Sun's StarOffice (probably the beta version of SO 6.0) It is at

(If StarOffice 5.2 is installed on a server and accessed via workstations that have only the workstation install on them, one can create a similar email, calander, tasklist, group thing. The newer StartOffice and OpenOffice do not include email functions.)
Of course, if what you are really after is GroupWare and not just an email server, then you have some to choose from.

http://www.phpgroupware.org/ (in beta but could be worth the wait)
http://twig.screwdriver.net/ (TWIG is GPL)
And here is a site that lists a bunch of them, but not all are Linux.
