The secondary view is v_findperson (local). The properties sheet has the controlsource as v_findperson.SSN and v_findperson.FullName. Since the textboxes are in a grid, I popped up the grid builder - which has a different controlsource listed than the one in the property sheet. Huh?!?!

Turns out I *was* overlooking something obvious - the grid and column headers had the incorrect controlsource.
