It depends on how much you want to play with VFP. If you plan on using ASP.NET pages to call VFP DLLs to do ALL of the work, why use ASP.NET at all? THere are alot of cool things in ASP.NET that you should start learning on their own if you're interested in "building web apps in a .NET world." If you want to use VFP databases with your ASP.NET you can use VFP7's OleDB providor with ADO.NET.
Another possibility, is use a non-COM approach to calling VFP programs. Off hand, Rick Strahl's article about Async Web Requests looks like it could be applied to create syncronous VFP calls from ASP.NET applications. I'd like to hear his comments on how practical it would be.
