I just noticed in your original message that you're using SET INDEX to set the index order, not SET ORDER. Is your index really stored in an NDX file, not as part of the table's structural CDX? I don't know how a list would behave in that situation.

Other than that, I'm not sure what to suggest. When I SET ORDER TO, then Requery a list, it works as I expect.
