>I have the following books from Hentzenwerke: Object-oriented programming, Internet Applications, Client-Server with SQL, Office Automation, Hacker's Guide, WebRad -- so I am satisfied customer of Whil's books. However I would start with the Foundation book and then decide if you need to buy anymore. (on a side note, I wasn't that thrilled with the SQL*server book and I seem to be in absolute minority when I say I think the hacker's guide is not a must buy).

I'd agree with you on both the Client/Server and Hackers Guide books. I wasn't thrilled with the writing style of some of the C/S chapters and I think that turned me off to the book more than the actual technical content.
I don't use the Hackers Guide much, but it's nice for verifying weird behavior. I think if I didn't have access to the internet (and the UT) I might rely on it more.
The 1001 book is good. There is a lot of neat little bits of code in there. Stuff that you don't even know you need until you need it.
