Right Winan,

Any file with the .mc extension could be thought of as a source file to sendmail. Did you get any error when you made the sendmail.cf file? When you restarted sendmail did it display some OKs.

The message your getting is the same message I got when I setup sendmail on my system. I keep working with it and finally the email client was able to connect to the linux mail server. Then I got error messages about not being able to login, so I kept working with it until everything started working.

See if you can send an email message to yourself the old fashioned way. Log in as root on the linux box and open a command window. For the example I will call your linux server by the linux_srv1 name.

type the following:
mail -s 'test message' winan@linux_srv1
this is a test message.
.
cc: [Enter]
Then do the following:

cd /var/mail/

open the file /var/mail/winan to see if it contains the email.

You can Also log out of root and log back into linux with your winan namd and password. Then do the following:
mail
At the & enter the message number and the email should appear. Enter a single x to exit email. If all this works then I suspect a network problem. Were you able to ping the linux mail server from one of the local window' computers?
