Nadya;
I tend to always have local and backup copies of my work. When using VSS things go well. I still use my local copy though – just in case! Seven years in the AeroSpace Industry taught me about “redundancy”! Or was that paranoia?
Even backups can be a problem. My worst experience with a backup was with a brand new tape, which was preformatted. Everything “went well” during the backup. A few days later we had a system crash and I used the backup to restore the server. Guess what? Nothing was on the tape – it was defective! Such a feeling and me the advocate of backups! This goes back to the line, “You should back up your system with a defined plan and insure the backup works”!
Things like this should happen on Monday - then you have the rest of the week to resolve it. :)

>Ok, may be somebody can cheer me up. Yesterday my manager copied DBC directory from Live to Development server and by this action overwrote the changes, I made yesterday in Job Templates, etc. Our Network Administrator tried to restore from Wednesday night backtape (so, my yesterday's work would be gone anyway), but the tape was jummed.

>So, I'm here with nothing... Of course, I have another project to work on, and we found a little bug, which I'm going to chase, but it's still a big disappontment for me. I guess, I have to copy everything to my local disk instead of relying on our normal backups... :(
