Geoff,

Do you have to use a group footer? I have used the page footer to print group footer information, such as a the footer on an invoice. You can use a report variable (a boolean flag) to determine when the group has finished, and use "Print When" in the page footer fields to only print the fields when the group is complete.

If this sounds like it might work for you, let me know, and I will provide more details...it is a pretty straightforward approach.
