I restored the file from the backup I made before starting the edits. (I'm a backup fanatic)

I have figured out what happened and how to duplicate the problem, but not how to get the lost code back. The sequence of events that caused the problem were.

1. Added a new key to the web.config file but had a typo that caused the xml file to be invalid. Basicly I left off the closing "/>" on a new key under the appSettings node.

2. Then made changes to the Webform that caused VS to update the web form designer generated code. Bam, all code is lost under InitializeComponent.

If you don't catch the problem and save the updates your hosed. After correcting the syntax error in the web.config file the web form designer refuses to re-generate the missing code.
