I unfortunately was not being facetious at all... I have been through this problem before. I used to work somewhere where we had both Novell shops and Microsoft shops we had to deal with. I have worked on problems with the Novell client with both Novell support and Microsoft support - and when you call Novell, they say it is a Mocrosoft problem - and when you call Microsoft they say it is a Novell problem.
The client problems we had always occurred on Windows95/98/se based machines and we could eliminate the problem by removing the client or installing an NT OS. The client that was built for NT/2000 machines did not have any problems. I am discouraged to hear that the client for XP is having issues now.
There is a client for NDS that Microsoft makes that works (used to) like a charm - if you can put this in - in lieu of the Novell client, you may be Ok.
Good luck!
