Title:
Anyone Know How To Do This?
Hi All,
I've been using MS Money for a while now and like the way MS has created its user interface. It uses what appears to be a "browser-like" UI where there is a "Back", "Forward" and "Home" navigation. As such it treats the interface as though they were web pages but I know there is no Internet connection required (since I can unplug my cable and still make it work :))
It can, however, go to the web and connect to financial services if necessary. When it does this, the web pages are shown within the existing UI and not in a separate browser.
Unlike standard web pages, the "pages" used in MS Money have rich controls like a real grid as opposed to a table in web pages. I can highlight an individual row in the grid and navigate thru the records. In addition, there are "hyperlinks" to other "pages" and an application menu bar across the top exactly like a typical Windows application.
It appears to me like MS has "webified" a desktop application while keeping all the rich user interface objects that a web page lacks. Does anyone know how this was done? What development tools may have been used? Is VFP capable of creating an app like this?
TIA for any comments.
Mike
