Larry, I use it both for ad hoc queries and for reports for different clients. Setup of the data dictionary can be a problem, although many of the quirks were ironed out in the last upgrade.
My biggest problem with it is that I can't add a field to a report if I add it to the query setup. Also, if you try to make a columnar report it only allows about 7 fields and the rest are lost.
A few other minor problems, such as it has a length and total-item limit in searches of several items (INLIST (..) and it's awkward to set up lookup tables so users see a combo box of selections for their designs.
Overall, my users like it.
About your reports, I exclude all reports from my EXE. Then if I have to change one, I make the changes, run it through a little utility that empties the Tag, Tag2 and EXPR fields (to enforce using the Windows printer) and upload to the client. Works fine.
HTH
