Hi Jim,

>>Mike,

>>>>Huh? Did not find a word in the proposals about offering a land.

>>>Yeah, I know. I thought I pasted "land-for-peace deal" in there, but it looks like I messed up.
>>
>>You're fine.

>>Essentially, the Saudis want Israel to pull back to pre-1967 borders and give up eastern Jerusalem. From a purely military pov it's madness if the Israelis take this offer - though the whole land is hugely war-weary.
>
>My reading is that Isreal would relinquish all of the land to pre-1967 status except Jerusalem, and that a deal might be makeable regarding a part of that.
>BUT the sticking point I hears is the "right of return" which, as I understand it, refers to Palestinians' right to return to their (former) homes at the time of Isreal's creation.
>I wouldn't agree to that if I was Israel.

I do not think that Israel will do this. Why? Remember, former Prime Minister Barak offered the Palestinians everything the wanted except the Temple Mount. They (the Paalestinians) refused to take what was the sweetest deal they had ever been offered. IOW, the PLO simply does not want peace with Israel; they want its eradication and always have.

>What isn't going to happen, and who is gonna get creamed?

The land is not going to be given back and Russia is going to get 'creamed' when they join some of the arab nations in an attempt to invade Israel and force their will upon them.
Best,
