>I meant prove that Israel legitimately acquired the land. Recall that the war in 1967 happened after the UN (Israel included) made an international law that borders may not by changed by force.

The State of Israel was created shortly after WWII [1947/8] by the UN according to a Partition Plan. For the history, see:

http://www.israel.org/mfa/go.asp?MFAH00li0#independence

The partition plan established an Arab state [Palestinian] and a Jewish State. This is what I call legal.

The surrounding Arab Nations and Palestinians wanted to destroy the Jewish State and claim all the lands for themselves. So within 24 hours of Israel becoming a sovereign nation, they were invaded by surrounding Arab nations. The invaders repulsed, lost the war and over the years as a result of more conflict have lost territory because of their actions. Now they [PLO] want the lost land back. All they had to do was accept the 1947 plan and "we" would not be in the mess we are in today. All the Arab countries involved have accepted this except Iraq and the PLO.
