This is what I have in my Hardware Configuration docs for my customers:

All workstations connecting to the server using Novell’s Client32 need to have a specific setting in the properties. First, right-click on the Network Neighborhood icon, then click on Properties. Click on the Novell Netware Client in the Installed Components list. Click on the Properties button. Click on the Advanced Settings Tab. The following options should have these settings:

Cache Writes = Off
Delay Writes = Off
File Cache Level = 0
Opportunistic Locking = Off
True Commit = On
Use Extended File Handles = ON

Click the OK button to close the Client properties form. Then click OK again to close the Network Neighborhood properties.
