You need to read this article. He likes PostGreSQL better than MySQL. He thinks it's sad that Postgres hasn't gotten traction with the open-source crowd while MySQL is "everywhere".
Have you read Bob Lee's FoxTalk article? Would most of what he describes apply to Postgres?
