Geoff,

I haven’t worked with the upsizing wizard in a while, but I do have some information that might be of use.

First, in VFP 6.0 SP5, if the target database is SQL Server 7.0 or higher, you need to set the compatibility level at 6.5. I don’t know for sure what the reason for this is, but if I were to hazard a guess, it would be to maintain compatibility with Sybase. Beginning with SQL Server 7.0, there is a great deal of difference between the way the two naturally inserted and retrieved records.

Second, while the Upsizing Wizard will copy the data to the target database, treating it as if it were still a VFP table is a mistake. There’s a great deal of difference between the way you need to design for VFP and SQL Server.
