The more I learn about this approach, the more it appeals to me.
I use SQL and local cursors quite a bit already. I was fixing a bug today which came about because VFP SQL cannot see the changes with optimistic buffering until I save. This means that I sometimes save twice or three times before I'm done (which bugs me, of course.)
It occured to me as I struggled with this that I would not have this problem with your and Bob's approach. The changes would be in my local cursor(s) and I could query them to my hearts content before finally sending the records back for update.
I've got a question into Kevin McNeish about supporting this approach with his Mere Mortals framework. (We both live in or near Charlottesville, VA.) I may have more questions about your and Bob's home-grown frameworks before I'm done.
Have a nice weekend!
