I have a remote view of an Oracle table which includes one LONG field. I am connected using the MS ODBC driver for Oracle. The field currently allows nulls. The first time I enter text into the field, the backend is updated fine. If I try to make changes to the field, when the view attempts to update the back end I get back an error message: "Illegal use of LONG datatype".

Anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem could be?
