We have the same problem couple years ago. Nobody help to us, I think Interbase not very popular database engine.
So, we take standart description of the ODBC connection for MS SQL and wrote something simular (but you have to ODBC driver for Interbase). After converting dates we developed new program - pure FoxPro. Now program works perfectly without any Interbase! (this is the best way).
Another way - to continue use ODBC (you can use MS SQL description - some command the same, and usually ODBC driver has help with description comman command and limitations (we used to pure SQL command)).Moreover, you can find additional information on Interbase forum or Delfi forum.
