He does have a point that newbies are not assisted when they open the box- clearly the expectation is that only existing VFP'ers will buy this product.
As for Access scaling with SQL2000 better than VFP; if you use latest Access with latest SQL you will know what he means. If you are not using VFP Views (which our gurus say you should not) I'm afraid that Access does seem a far more "modern" scaling environment- you can treat SQL tables and views just like Access views.
I'm not saying I agree with Mr(?) Zinni but his statements shouldn't surprise us.
