Hello All,
I am currently creating a class that validates files passed to it. By that I mean that if the file has been passed as Comma Delimited file type or Tab Delimited the class checks the file for the delimiting character.
I have had problems in the past with people sending ACT database files into us and our processors not being able to USE the DBF file as they would normally.
Therefore I would like to verify that any DBF files passed to this class are valid DBaseIV DBF files as used in Visual FoxPro (6.0).
To this end I was wondering if anyone could direct me towards any information pertaining to the structure of DBF files that I could then write something to check the file with FOPEN() etc. Rather than attempting to USE the table and handling the ensuing error.
As I understand it each DBF contains header information within it. Is there something common about the Header I can look for?
Many thanks for any help that can be provided.
Regards,
Ben
