>I'd think that if we put as much into advertising against premarital sex as we do into getting kids to stop smoking we'd find that it would help.

Help what? It would probably deter impressionable people from having premarital sex, but, what would that help?

It would probably help organized relgion's cause. It would probably help overprotective parents sleep at night. But there must be something worth helping that you're getting at.

How about instead of advertising against premartical sex, we spend that money making sex safe, and anything left over can be spent teaching kids the message to make love and not war, that would be of some help in a measurable, and more importantly, justifiable sense.

>To just give up, using "peer pressure" as the excuse is just that, an excuse to continue the current behavior. Either that or the cigarette campaign is a waste of time and money and a lot of folks seem to think its working.

I think it does more harm than good. Kids that get this message that "Smoking is bad, really really bad". And then they have a ciggertte. They cough a little, but they say "Hey, this isn't so bad". Now you have just lost credibility among young people. You start to say "Hey, guns are bad" and now it doesn't have the same affect.

Thats why ENgland is changing its stance on pot, so when they talk abotu the dangers of cocaine and herion, the kids will believe them.

An anti-Sex compaign will have the exact same problem. I guarantee it.
