Tamar;

I built a computer for a company I worked for in 1962. It was “state of the art” and used 2N404 Transistors – two for each flip-flop. What a monster! The computers I worked on in the Air Force got smaller and smaller with greater capabilities.

Computer books started out as very “lean” documents and many were extremely informative. As time went on computer books have become large – perhaps 1500 pages or more in some cases. Many such books can be reduced to a paragraph or a few simple sentences. Others should never have been written. It seems that computers and computer books have taken on a different path. Very often computers get smaller and have more functionality while computer books get larger and have less meaningful content.

I find the Hackers Guide to be a well-written document and like it as well as the computer file that is a part of the previous version. The book is a pleasure to use and its size does not bother me but then I am 6’ 7”. Additionally, it has great value to any Visual FoxPro programmer.

I may not be in the majority but I do express myself.

Tom

>FWIW, I don't see myself using the computer for serious reading either. (And, while I haven't counted the books I've read in my life, I wouldn't be surprised to find it in the neighborhood of 10,000.)

>However, with the Hacker's Guide, we're talking about reference material, and making it available where you use it. Many of the reference section entries fit on a single screen and few require more than one pgdn.
