Hi Alex,

>>Oh.. Just kidding you a bit. You need to think about it a little from my pov. I'm saying that at some point everyone has a "master passion" or "final authority" (for me it's the Bible's God), or controlling 'something', whether intellectual, emotional or physical. Since you seem to have as your 'final authority' your own mind, if you say there's no god, do you disappear? <g>
>
>It seems you can't understand the concept of Mike believing in himself, not magic.

No, I fully understand but it doesn't change my point I think. Mike, in this case and barring any unknow, undiscovered, unreported, etc 'other' final authorities, only proves that, for Mike anyway, he is 'god' in his thought process. If you take the notion that 'god' is defined in one's life as the final authority, which I think is reasonable.

Remember, I'm not attempting to denigrate or belittle but to get the definitions all equalized. A huge part of the frustrations and so forth in discussions like this arises from the differentials between definitions.

>Why would he dissapear just because his "master passion" as you put it is shared by VFP, cars and girls (maybe not in that order).

Well, like I said, I was just teasing him a bit. Think about it a little.. <s>

>Why should there be a "final authority"?

Dunno.. There always just is one. Everyone has a final resting point from which they derive their world view - whether they recognize it or not. You do, I do, Mike does, everyone does. More often than not it's something of an amalgam of wholly disparate 'pieces' but it is there regardless. I suppose that as human beings we all need one - of whatever form we choose to accept.

> Just because some people are more insecure than others and need a crutch doesn't make it so.

Insecurity really has little to do with this other than perhaps where someone derives their world view from. I am not at all wanting to suggest that I think Mike is insecure whatsoever and if I've given that impression I'd surely apologize. This is not an emotional issue IMO, though I recognize that many many people are quite emotional about it.

>Vini, vidi, vinci. We come, we conquer, we leave this world. Period. I've never seen proof otherwise.

I'm sincerely curious.. Do you want to see 'proof otherwise'? I'm betting that you're answer will be no, which is fine but as I said, I'm just curious.
Best,
