I follow a sim ilar line of thought as you do Jason. I like to have a public string or strings if multiple connections. I then pass the connect string to a connect class to handle all aspects of data retrieval and update. I am one of those who prefer a quick hit rather then maintaing one long open connection. I acknowledge the benefits of the long connection, but it does not really suite most of my applications.
