Money. If you had to sell a generic tool or one dedicated to databases, what would your choice be? Think from a marketing point of view. Independently of the technical merits and the problems they solve. Not to mention that selling VB through the years made a lot of sales for SQL Server. Would selling the same number of VFP copies have required purchasing so many SQL Server licenses?
