I've been reading various messages and I've noticed comments such as "that's when I used to use remote views", or "people (pros) don't use remote views anymore" and so on. It leads me to wonder if Remote Views are problematic (too slow, etc.) and that there is some other (better) method of working with back-end data (SQL Server, etc.).

I'm getting ready to develop my first client/server app (in VFP 7). It will be the first time I will be storing my data remotely. Are Remote Views "old tech" now or are they the preferred technique to work with remote data?
