Just in case I was not clear in my problem description. I have 2 Win 98 machines at a client that failed during the Win 98 startup. They both work fine after Win 98 is reinstalled. One machine had VFP 7 installed without apparent problems. Various software (VFP6, terminal emulator, etc.) ran fine. It refused to boot Win 98 after being shut off over night. The 2nd machine froze during the VFP 7 install. It then refused to boot Win 98. The nature of the failure to load Win 98 is similar (but not exactly the same) for the 2 machines. Both machines had cross linked files. Both machines worked fine after Win 98 was re-installed.
It is not conclusive, but it is a good guess that VFP 7 was involved in the problem. If (!!!!) VFP 7 is involved, it is my guess that VFP 7 is fighting with something. My inventory of things that are running there include a Novell client, KEA Attachmate teminal emulator, McAfee and Z.E.N. Works. I would suspect that VFP 7 is pretty thoroughly tested with McAfee. The others are less popular and are more likely to be involved. I cannot swear that KEA was down during the VFP installs. I did not turn off McAfee.

Yes and no. See above.
If anyone has any insight on what might have gone wrong, I would appreciate the input.
