Title:
Report form hacking details or specs anywhere?
Hi,
Anyone know if the dirty details of the report (.frx) files has been published either by Microsoft or by a 3rd party? From having to hack the object before, I know a lot of what each record does, but not quite enough.
I have a "high-end" client (ie. they spend a lot of money to get it right) who wants their reports to be very, very specific such that I have to do some "orphan/widow" and "block protect" stuff for them. I have done this by hacking the .frx and figuring out page heights and header and footer heights and detail line heights ahead of time and then I stuff in blank lines to protect push blocks of text around so that nothing is orphaned etc.
It worked swimmingly well in DOS (years ago) and I have it working 98% well in Windows but I would like to check some specs to see if I am missing something.
I could send it to Word, which would get my widow/orphan stuff going but I don't know if there is an easy way to do block protecting in it (and, I don't really want to send to Word anyhow as it adds a lot of overhead).
Albert
