now I understand and get the same results. I think the problem is around the fact that the grid has also a tooltiptext property. Maybe you should try to change the tooltiptext property of the grid for the tooltip property of your control when the mouse is over your control in the grid. See the reply from Nadya, there's a link to a Vlad's reply that, if I'm right, works around this.
