I have used the SecureTouch from www.biometricaccess.com. They have an API if you are working with C++ and several ActiveX controls you can add to a form to work with it.

The by-product is a 1KB checksum file generated by the control. We stored this in a memo file and compared this with the checksum captured by the device when authenticating.
