You might try to edit the bitmap with Paint, Select Image menu, uncheck "Draw Opaque", fill the back color with white and save. I created a bitmap 22x22 Pixels in this way and the back color is transparent on the button, showing only the picture. When disabled, the picture is dimmed, but the back color of the bitmap remains transparent.
