>I had a homer moment. I dropped the chighlighteffect on the form and used the SetEffect() and CancelEffect() in the corresponding MouseEnter() and MouseLeave() methods. So far, so good. The login form releases from memory with this configuration.

MouseLeave() sometimes doesn't fire, if moving the mouse off the control fast. If you're experiencing that kind of trouble, you might want check IsMouseOut from the downloads section. This will help to avoid the problem. I'm not absolutely sure until now, but it maybe, that the problem only comes up when a control is set to "hot tracking".
